The meeting was called to or der by the president. Mrs. Thyra Glover led in prayer. Mrs. Mae Belle Strickland gave the devo tional taken from 1 John 1:3-7. A very interesting program was given on “Walking Together with Him.” After the program a dis cussion was had and a date was set for Bible School which will be June 17-21 with Mrs. Geneva Wilder president. Also there was a discussion on setting shrubbery on the church ground. After which Mrs. Congleton served refresh ments. Mr. and Mrs. Therous Johnson I visited Mr. and Mrs. Thel John son and Mrs. Mattie Johnson in Kenly Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Faucette of Raleigh called on Mr. and Mrs. Frank Faucette Sunday night. Misses Janet, Joan and Peggy I Faucette called on the Pete Perrys 1 of Middlesex Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Rolan Hales’ Sun day guests were the Odell Creeches and girls, the Wallace Hales and the Kenneth Hales of Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Glover visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parlok of Selma, during the week end. Mrs. Larry Lewis and Judy spent Monday with her grand mother, Mrs. Skinner, of Archer’s Lodge. Mrs. Valton Wilson has been staying with Mrs. Flonnie Parker in Wendell-Zebulon Hospital for the last few days. Allen Tippett and Anthony Creech have joined the group of Boy Scouts of Hales Chapel. They have just recently organized. Mrs. Vick Driver called on Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Wall Sunday af ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Driver of Middlesex were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Driver. The Larry Lewises visited Mrs. Skinner of Archer’s Lodge Mon day night. The WMS of Watkins Chapel met with Mrs. Aaron Hocutt in Wendell Monday night with Mrs. Ruby Creech, president, presiding. After which Mrs. Hocutt served refreshments. Douglas Hinton and Joe Strick land had a wreck in this commu nity last Thursday morning. Doug las was hospitalized but Joe was just shook up a little. The 4-H Club wishes to express appreciation to every one who helped them make their chicken stew supper a success. Heart Campaign Chairman Named Mrs. Rochelle Long, Zebulon florist, has been appointed chair man of the Heart Fund drive for Zebulon and the surrounding com munities, Dr. L. M. Massey, chair man of the Wake County Council of the Heart Association, has an nounced. The month of February has been designated as Heart Month. Heart Sunday is February 24. Mrs. Long said the workers are requested to meet at Zebulon Bap tist Church at 2:30 p.m. February 24 before the concentrated canvas of the town and communities. The chairman plans to have a booth at Peoples Bank and Trust Co. here for two Saturdays where persons may make contributions. Mrs. Long requests that each civic organization of the town make a contribution. Last year the only civic organization which par ticipated in the drive was the Farm Bureau Women’s Auxiliary. Last year’s drive, under the di rection of Mrs. Andrew Jenkins, totaled $813.71. Solicitors named for the drive are: Edsel Martin, Hopkins Chapel Church; Clio Vann, Hales Chapel Church; Hal Perry, Pearce Baptist Church; the Rev. Horace Hamm, Wakefield Baptist Church; W. M. Sutton, Zebulon Methodist Church; Mrs. Roy Driver, Watkins Chapel Church; Uriah Whitley, Union Chapel Church; Osbone Wilder, Friendship Free Will Baptist Church; Mrs. Frances Baker, Zeb ulon Church of God; and Mrs. Lizzie Askew, the chairman of the Negro solicitors. Jimmy Medlin will be in charge of the solicitations for the business establishments. YWA Banquet On Monday evening, February 11, the YWA’s of the Zebulon Bap tist Church attended the Associa tional YWA Banquet held in the First Baptist Church of Raleigh. There were eight members present from the Zebulon Baptist Church: Leaders—Mrs. Jack Tip pett, Mts. Ethyl Pippin, and Miss Mary Lou Nicholson. Members present were: President Marie Scarborough, Arlene Bullock, Charlotte Scarboro, Gale Pearce, and Sue Arnold.
